Pulley outside diameter doesn't match spec

Post by Edward French »

I've noticed the outside diameter in the STL output for the GT2 pulleys don't match the specs.  For example this 16 tooth GT2-3mm pulley has an outside diameter spec'ed at 14.5169mm and the STL output has an outside diameter of 14.68866.

The root radius spec also seems to be off as it is 4.2584.

Hi Edward:

Ive verified the output numbers, they appear to confirm to spec, what are you measuring the stl with?

(Thge root radisu you can ignore, I will remove it from that screen, its not a spec used in pulleys and the number
is really gibberish in that context.).

I'm using Fusion 360 to build the 3d model of the pulley with a hub and set screws.  It has a function to create splines from stl perimeters.  Fusion 360 has a problem handling dxf files with lots of short line segments, so using the stl output works best.  I also get the same results using Visual Cadd and dxf output from Gearotic.

Hi Ed:

Download the Development version and it should now be fine. An error crept into
the filtering routine that made the distance a touch off, you should find it accurate to spec now.

Thx for the bug notification..

lol, NO, Thank YOU, Im happy to know of bugs like that one, it may not have affected some uses,
but it may have had bad effects on others. It was an unusual source of error and Im really glad you caught it.
