Setting gear (material) thickness

Post by Stephen Fornelius »

For the life of me I can't find a way to change the thickness of the material used to make a gear.  It defaults to 1" and I'm going to be using .062 brass.

The tutorials seem to use a different version of the program, so while I've looked through those, it doesn't help.

When you "Create Wheel" or "Create Pinion", the choice is called FaceWidth.

Stephen;

Steve Fox is correct, it is called facewidth when you create a wheel or pinion.  I assume you'll need to set your units to "Inch" also, by default they are set to "Metric", this is done with the global setting tab, top left in GT, or if your using GM, with the "settings" tab,  top right.

OK, I see it now.  It was in a menu I haven't used till just now.  Now that I have access to the forums, I can read through all the posts and get a better handle on this.
