Hi,
Wondering if meshing helicals can have different angles,
i.e. One gear with 30 deg and the other with 60 deg to achieve a 90 deg shaft angel.
GM lets me put in different angles but GT does not.
Hard to tell from the simulation whether they would work or not, would they ?
Helical angles
Re: Helical angles
Hi :
Yes, as long as both are the same hand. If the gears are different hands, then they must have the same
angle or they wont mesh. This is because the size of the gear is corrected by the secant of the helical angle.
If they dont have the same handedness they must have the same angle so they line up as a 0 degree
shaft change.
( There is a bug in there that makes them mesh wrong at the moment in some circumstances, it is fixed in next version
which will be out very shortly. )
Thx
