Spokes

Hi Art,

Hope all is well with you.

I have attached a dxf file of a spoke.

I cannot get it to load in Gearotic.  I would like to make a wheel
with it.  I place it in the Spokes folder as a .dxf file.

I have tried a few suggestions but cannot get it to work.

Thank you,

Richard

Richard:

Two problems with it, all the lines in a spoke must be continuous as a contour. If using vectric for example,
you select the lines and then select "Join" in the menu..

Second, all spokes must have 0,0 as their center, they must extend from a high Y value that is equal to the
negative Y value..

Heres the spoke working..

I'm curious about spokes as well.  I downloaded the corrected dxf and looked at it but I'm not showing the same Y values of the object, positive and negative from 0,0.  Could you elaborate a little more on spoke construction?

Hi Mark:

The numbers dont have to exactly match, but generally the spoke should be zeroed in the center of its Y dimention
generally. The program scales the drawing as it loads to a +-1 in size, then rescales to the general requirments of the
spoke selected.

The entire spoke must be a polyline, or series of polylines in order to work, a collections of lines or arcs will
not work, they must be a "POLYGON" type dxf entity, in Vectric this means you must join all the lines to together
before exporting the dxf..
