Moving Origin

Post by John T »

Hi Art,
On the 3-Axis CNC screen - I upload the gear I want from from project screen with no problem.  The origin in in the lower left for the table grid.  Since I may have a bunch of gears on this screen I may want to only cut one of them.  When I post the tool path I have a rapid from the lower left corner of the screen to where ever the gear is located.

Is there a way to move the origin to the centre of the gear?  That way I could place the spindle exactly where I want the centre of the gear to be and not worry about the rapid from the origin in the posted gCode.

As a work around I move the gear over the origin, which is a bit clumsy but it does work.  If I have lots of gears on the CNC Screen it gets a little confusing with overlapping stuff.

A second thing that is happening when I Post the gCode a dialogue box comes up and says "File Access Denied for Editing".  It doesn't affect my work but why does it come up?

John

Hi John:

The error is because you have selected "AutoOpen Gcode file" and whatever program you have assigned is reporting an
access denied. Try setting the editor to wordpad or notepad in the options..

As for the origin.. you can set it to center, ( in the options.), while its not dynamically changable,
its a lot handier for your type of working if you use a center origin..

Good luck
