Autotrain question

Post by mphil »

Hi All
I've overcome on question but now I'm on another.
I suppose I really ought to gen up on gear train Math but I decided to go and see if AutoTrain can help me.

I have a 30 toothed scape wheel that I want to to rotate 2x per min basically to go for a short 12" ish pendulum. I've looked at AutoTrain for a minute-60minute option with two pair. Unfortunately the results don't come up with any options to choose from. I have every set at what it should but am I asking for something that doesn't exist?

I have results for 3 pair but that's not what I'm looking for. If you look at a typical Victorian skeleton clock with a short pendulum that's where I'm aiming for

Many Thanks
Mark

Hi MArk:

TO do that in a pair, youd need to low your minimum to 8 teeth.. It takes a mix of 8 and 96 teeth to do it, also raise your error tolerance.. I cant recall how much error there is on that, but if you dont get an answer, raise the tolerance as a matter of course.. :)
