Pointed gear (compass dial)

Is there an easy way to produce what might look like a pointed gear, much like the points on a compass dial. I only want 8 points and it would be ideal if the principle ones (N, S, E, W) could be make longer than the intermediate points (NE, NW, SE, SW).

Hi Monafly

  Well, you could in vexx draw a 8 pointed start with elongated points on
the four principle directions, group that contour and select Extrude STL. Thats a
quick way to make any simply shape such as that..
