Hi there, is it possible to make an internal ring gear stationary in the simulation ? so that the sun & planet arrangement rotates within the stationary internal ring gear

Re: Stationary internal gear in planetary system
Nearly a month on and no answer to this question?
I have the same problem. Many uses of planetary gearsets require one or other of the ring/carrier/sun to be fixed/stationary -- especially high-ratio compound setups.
Is this possible in gearotic?

Hi:
Sorry for the slow responce, I hadn't got a notification on this question.
Unfortunately, you cannot lock a pinion in a planetary. Gearotic uses a simple rule based
system for its rotational simulation. Locking pinions and such requires a kinetic analysis
to be done with forward kinematic chains that Gearotic cannot handle.
It basically follow a rule that gears can turn, but not move away from their center.
Thx
