Need Advice on how to accomplish movement

I want to construct a machine that will rock an item about 270 degrees.  Can someone point me to what might be the easiest way to accomplish this?

Specifically I am trying to construct a device to hold .3x.3x70" strips of bamboo (fly rod splines) that nodal areas need to be moved over a heat gun back and forth about 2" and rocked so that 3 sides are exposed to the heat.  And the two movements need to be none synchronized/repetitive.  Preferably using a small DC motor.  The back and forth I get but the rotation past 180 to 270 is my challenge.

Hope I explained it well enough.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

So...it seems that a crank that turns a gear through ~140? that runs a smaller diameter (1/2) gear would move that gear through my desired motion, I think.  Any comments/ideas?

TIA

Hi:

Have you consider a 4bar linkage type of thing? A round disk spinning as a gear but with no teeth, it has a link attached
between it and the disk next to it so the second disk makes a 4bar linkage in effect and only spins back and  forth dependent
on the link placement on the two gears?
