3d printing gears..

Hi All:

I got tired of making shaft holders for my printed gears. Ive written an SDF based gear generator that allows bearings, flanges, collars with grub screws oi more complex split collars with clamps to grab the shafts. Thought you might like to see an early screenshot. The meshes from an SDF are much tighter, cleaner and solid manifolds so should be very good for 3d prints. This new program will design round gears, involute, helical or cycloidal Its designed to be simply a quick way to get a gear set to spec as an STL. Its still in prep but as always, will be a free upgrade.

Welcome to 2025,
