getting shaft holes to appear in plate

Post by dmarlen »

I must be missing the simple fix :D

I created a "movement" and need the plate with the shaft holes.  When I go to plateing and select the front plate and then output it.. there are no shaft holes.  I'm opening it in CorelDrawX6.

Thank you.

David.

Hi David:

It should be automatic. Can you send me the project file so I can see here its messing up?
If you use the plating screen, you should be able to adjust ( move) the front plate around, and as you do
the shaft holes should move as well. Does the plate show holes? It should. If it does show them, then perhaps
if you just send me the DXF I can diagnose it.

Thx

I'll send the project file later today.

I don't see a front plate to move around.  When I output the plate and open it in Corel I get a square, but that square did not appear in the gear program.

Thanks.

David:

The plate may be in the project tree but not yet initialised. Go the plateing tab and press
the button labeled "Get From Project", then turn on the front, back, side..etc with the checkboxes.

Now you can grab the plates on the screen and move them, they should show holes now.
You can rotate with your mouse, then click and move to move the plates and center them in any dimension.

Hope that helps.

Attached is my file.  Thanks for looking at it.  It isn't very complicated, just three shafts.

Hi David:

Try this one. I'm not sure how, but your plates were moved a long way from center so you couldnt see them. I moved them back to
center and you should now see them and the oles in them.

Yes it worked.  I see how if I zoomed waaaay out I was able to see the plate.  No idea either how it got there.  How did you move it?  I wasn't able to drag it back.  And even with your version you sent back to me I can't seem to move the plates around.

I may have got it.  In the plateing mode I'm able to move the plates around.  Is that right?

David:

Yup, on the plating screen you can select any view ( top, left..ect..) and click to move the plates around.
By doing so you center them in each plane to match your design. The holes move as the plates do.

Art,

Is there a way to remove the plates?  Maybe it's not really necessary cuz if I don't want them I can ignore them, but I'm just wondering.  I tried right clicking on the front plate and selected remove.  I was warned: This will remove all mechanisms, are you sure?

I thought it would just be the plates but it did indeed remove everything.  Of course my work was saved, so it was fine.
