Hot Wire CNC Foam cutter using Auggie and pokeys57 cnc controller

Has anyone ventured down the path of using Auggie and Pokeys57 (or equivalent type of controller) on a hot wire cutting application? I've had the desire to build one of these machines for a number of years after watching the Frog Hot Wire cutter doing its 4 axis magic on a big block of styro. The Auggie and Pokeys57 combination seems like an ideal solution for axis control.

I know True Foam in Eastern Canada uses hot wires and Mach3 for some of their products, so I'm convinced Auggie with the 57CNC would work just as well. It's just a matter of time before these older computers using Printer Ports run out of gas, I suspect you'll see more and more converting over as time progresses.

Yes I think you're correct Bob. After saturating myself with Hot Wire Foam cutting videos and design info this weekend, it looks like a fairly straightforward build. The software to generate the G-Code for 4th axis is reasonably priced (at least for Dev Foam Pro). Another project for the prototype table.
