I'm playing with some plain involute gears I created for testing. Somehow the scaling isn't right when I create a 2D .dxf for laser-cutting through the Output Manager. The 4-5" gear I made for a test gets imported into the laser cutter driver program as a 1cm object. :)
Have tried Settings->inches because I thought there'd be a difference.
Now on v4.86.
Thanks

Re: General use - struggling with Project screen & Output Manager
Hi Harry:
The DXF's are not unit specific, that is they put out the dxf in units. Basically, whatever you selected. I highlly suspect,
just like my laser, it imports nonspecififc, that is to say it imports the numbers as they file shows them, but doesnt transate
from metric to standard or back. Your 4 -5 inch gear is probably correct in the dxf, but the laser, if its anything liek mine loads it as a metric file..so about 9mm's or 1cm.
Change GM to metric mode and recreate your project. I think youll find the laser then cuts it to 4-5" ..only in mm's..
Let me know how it goes, I too hvae to use mm's for any dxf I send to my laser.
