Circle 1 spoke problem
Circle 1 spoke problem
I am getting a number of G03 lines in my code which are generating the circles seen in this gcode output image. I am using version 4.710. I have turned off the "Rounded Corners" option. When these lines of code are edited out, the gear looks fine. Am I doing something wrong?
Re: Circle 1 spoke problem
Hi:
No, its a bug. Youll find that if you change your point distance setting ( up or down depending on the tool used) the circles will go away. Its a hard to find bug in the pocketer that creates entire circles when the small arc created is so small it reaches epsilon proportions and is then interporeted as a circle. This is a bug I hope to have fixed soon in GM and will not be present in GT at all in the recode.
Thx

Re: Circle 1 spoke problem
Art,
Thanks for the quick reply. I tried adjusting the gear point distance variable up and down, but it didn't correct the problem. I should point out I'm using inch units, and my tool diameter is .0625. Is there a recommended setting I should be using?

You can try lowering the number of spokes by 1 or increasing by 1. Its a very strange numerical problem that causes it. Ive always been able to make it go away by modifying one thing or another to stop the rounding error. Ill see if I can get that fixed withiin the next couple weeks fr the next release. It usually shows up on circular or damper type of spokes.
Thx

Re: Circle 1 spoke problem
Thanks for the suggestions. For this project I'll just hand edit the files and will look forward to the fix.

Do me a favour though, save your project and post the file here. I know your tool is .0625 , Id like to run some tests with your settings. Also, let me know what you have set for point distance. If your in Inch it shoudl be around .001
Thx

Just a followup, Ive found the problem and Ill release it this week. Should make the Gcode much more reliable and wit no circles.
