Hi Art,
When I generate a spur gear, put it on the Project screen everything is good so far - but when I try to generate gCode the program freezes so hard I have to shut the computer down and start the computer again.
Is it just me?

FWIW, a test set worked here. Can you post your project file, or at least your gear parameters?
I'm set for metric. A quick try in inch mode didn't hang either.

John:
It may be some number has been saved as zero and causing a problem, or depth per pass is something so low it locks it up... I fix such things as I find them, but to reset to defaults, delete
the reg key HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Gearotic from the reg.exe program.
That will reset the program to defaults which should fix it. I hope to have that automated shortly.

Hi Art,
Once I gave some depth >0 to the cut all was fine - I feel like a real dummy!

Art;
Do you think a "Reset to Default" button in all working tabs of Geraotic II would be benficial? I get many offline posts to where problem would be easily fixed if such a button existed.
Cheers pal

Maybe we should just reset the operator.

Chicken or egg issue. If you have that problem you cannot run the program, so you cant press the Reset to Default button.
A solution is in the works though, in future the program will recognize it wasn't shut down properly
and if so will ask if you wish it to reset the registry to default to cure any ill's. Should be in the fall
release.

Hi Art,
When making gCode for a Chrono deadbeat there are a number of components and the program wants to make each one 0.5 inches by default, while I will generally make them 1/4 inch thick. If I set the first one at 1/4 the program will revert back to 1/2 on the next component of the escapement.
You may have done this on purpose and if you did OK - I now know what to watch for but it would be nice that when generating gCode the program stayed at the same thickness of material in 2.5D generation instead of reverting to a default of 0.5 thickness for each new component that is being generated.
Not a buggy

John:
In the fall that will happen. The whole concept of CNC in G2 is going to change to a much better system with each type of maching having its own toolbars and options. Ill make sure that the end thickness is something that holds from piece to piece. (Much of this is already in the works but its a very large switchover so youll see it happen mostly all at once in a fall release.
