Possible bug on DXF export?

Post by WVictor »

Hi! I have created a spur gear and exported it as a 2D DXF, and I am importing it into 3DS MAX, latest version, and the lines at the base of each tooth are not connected, you can see that on the image I'm posting.

Also I do not see an option to increase the resolution for better curves, is that not an option?

Hi:

Thats pretty strange, can you post that dxf to me, the dxf's in Gearotic are a series of point to point segments, there are no real individual lines. When loaded into my cad programs, there are no disconnections. Id lke to check that file to be sure.

There is no way to change the point to point distances in Gearotic, they are determined by a minmum resolution built into the algorithms that
create them. I am looking into adding a filtration selection to smooth them however, as the non-circulars are known to have some aliasing in the roots. I havent any reports of Spur issues at all at this point. ( Well, I do.. this one.. :) ). So post this file and Ill see how its behaving in my various programs to be sure it isnt a 3dmax issue with Acad2009 file formats.

Thx

Hi Victor:

Ive tested this in Vectric and Rhino and they show no lost lines. Vectric shows its a constant polyline with no intersections or degenerate
lines. Its possible 3dMAx has some setting that controls continuity, Ive never used it so I cant say, but I cant find any error with the DXF
output or any missing lines on any tooth. The DXF seems to be complete and in proper order. Hopefully you can find a setting to show
what might be wrong..
