I am having problems in outputting to stl with bevel gears. When I do the export to stl all I get is "failure in STL output " message, strange thing is that the gear is being saved as a stl although they do need a lot of repair work (well they did until I found a workaround).
On a side note a massive thank you for the hard work that has gone into the program that has saved me literally hundreds of pounds in R & D costs, and for the pleasure of hours of fun in a "what if" development stage of a project that I am working on, the ability to change things add hock, 3D print it and change again if needed is priceless. The true value of this program is many many times more that what I paid!
Once again a big thank you.

John
Failure in STL Output
Re: Failure in STL Output
Hi John:
Interesting. I dont get errors on mine.. they seem to load without error flags in the 3d printer as well. That error
is flagged if indices point to missing vertices. Hence the errors I think. Something is going wrong with it..
Does the model look overlapping or anything? Try mm's if you in inches and see if it then seems to work, or
visa versa.. Im wondering if its a rounding error on my part somewhere...
Thx

Re: Failure in STL Output
Hi Art
Tried both inch and mm with the same result.
The gear which is generated shows the errors (the stripped bits) I took a snap shot to show you, but that only shows a blank page?
So I have took a snip to show you.

Re: Failure in STL Output
Hi John:
Ahh, I see. The epicycloidal teeth probably do that. They dont follow the same ruiles as the involutes and can generate bad caps..
Ill add this to my list. Do you find involutes have the same trouble?

Re: Failure in STL Output
Hi Art
No the involutes are working fine, I shall use them instead as it wont really matter to the project as I am only proving the concept at this stage. I think for this particular gearing it will have to be crown gears which you are not able to offer at the mo.
