A major newbie question Gearotic 2.0... I can add a pendulum to an escapement via the Indicator tool but I do not get a dialog asking for the length or period as in your tutorial videos. What am I missing?
Thanks in advance from a new user who is very excited to learn and begin making ticking, moving things with your wonderful software!
How to add a pendulum?
Re: How to add a pendulum?
Hi Mark:
Unlike Gearotic 1, I do not have a pendulum length calculator in gm2, but you can add any length to the escapment. Once
you know what length you wish to use, enter it in the box above the pendulum type, then select add to project.
On the project screen select the shaft of the escapement , not the ratchet. Place the pendulum.
One reason length is not used at this point is that its length no longer sets the devices timing, to set that right click
on the master driver and select the number of rotations per minute. You can run Gearotic 1.0 as well to check to see what
length a pendulum should be for the time you will set. I will be adding the calculator back in this season.
Thx

Re: How to add a pendulum?
Thank you Art, I looked for quite a while before asking for help. I think the pendulum length-period calculator is a nice feature to be included, especially if the gravity standard is that of Earth's. :)
Re: How to add a pendulum?
I agree Mark, Im not quite sure why I didnt move it across. Ill try to have it included by next week.
In the meantime, you might want to download Gearotic1 from the downloads page, just unzip
it to your Gearotic folder and run the program. Youll find it has a pendulum calculator in it,
and may have a few other toys that Gearotic 2 doesnt yet have included.
