Vector Wizard selection button not present

Post by Candres »

Hi, this is my first post to the forum. I've found Gearotic fairly easy to use for gear train design and have produced a number of DXF files which I have imported in the design software I use for my CNC Router and Trotec Laser. The one thing I have not been able to figure out is why the Push Button that invokes the Vector Wizard is not present. I've looked at the videos on youtube and it appears there in the misc. utilities area. I'm running the developers version. I have tried to install the software on both windows 10 and windows 7. Any help would be great.

Hi Cam:

The vector wizard was removed form gearotics menu's as the CAD program chaged to Vexx. There is a CAD
button now that calls up Vexx instead. The plan is eventually to have kinematics switched to vexx as well.

You can , however, call up the old vector processor. To do so you need to install Auggie though as the vector
processor was actually Auggie running in a special mode. Once Auggie is installed, open its icon with
right click properties and add the command -con to the target. SO the Target box in properties
will then read..

"C:\Gearotic Motion\Auggie.exe -con"

If you then run that shortcut, the old vector processor will appear.

Thanks Art, I'll make that command line change and give her a go. I 'm looking forward to playing with the flourish and seeing how creative it can get.

Yes, I probably should port that code back to vexx as well...

Flourishes worked well, and can even enhance a picture of a moose

Good Morning Art,
As suggested I tried the modification of the target line to include the -con after Auggie.exe . I get a problem with shortcut error message stating the name "C:\Gearotic Motion\Auggie.exe -con" specified in the target box is not valid. Make sure path name and file names are correct.
I can run Auggie OK and I've examined the file names and all seems to be in order. Is the syntax correct? I've tried this on Windows 7 and Windows 10. Same error message.
Regards

Sorry Cam:

Typo on my end..

"C:\Gearotic Motion\Auggie.exe" -CON

is what the target should look like.

Cam;

Good!.. :)

Youll find it a bit messy in GUI usage, it was a good platform for me to experiment in,
but it became apparent pretty quick a better GUI was needed. Its why Vexx was started.
Its GUI is vastly superior , but now will be awhile before I transfer kinematics to it, CAD
is one of those things that are a programmers black hole, they suck in as much effort
as you wish to give it and its sometimes hard to see the advancement. :)
