Checking Version

Post by John T »

Hi Art,
When I have GT open and a put a gear on the project screen everything works as it should.  If I check the version - button on the upper right of the screen things "freeze" up and I can't do anything until I push cmd-opt-esc at which point the dialogue box comes up and tells me the version and whether its licensed or not.  So in my case is says V 1.04 licensed to john tribe.  From that point I can carry on with design until I try to check version again and then I'm back to a "freeze".

A second help I could use.  I'm designing a wheel for a spinning wheel and I want the outside to be smooth, i.e. no teeth.  If I take the stub down to 0.01 and the module to 1 it looks fairly smooth.  Are there settings that will make it as smooth as possible?  The wheel diameter is 15 inches.

None of this is stopping me but I thought you would like to know.

Hi John:

  Im not sure why the freeze.. that help/about doesnt even do much, it just outputs an already previously checked license and version report. Ill keep my eye open to see if I can repeat it..

Point 2: You need a gear with no teeth basically. Design and place a normal spur gear. Once placed, right click
on it in the project tree and select "Remove Teeth", youll get a perfectly round gear with no teeth. :)

Hi John;

I restored your original license back from 2010 into my system to check if perhaps issue could exist within license, however I was unable to duplicate the problem your experiencing.. What is your OS and are you running any background tasks?

Cheers

Hi Bob
I run windows XP on a parallels partition of Mac Mavericks.  OK I know I'm lucky to get anything to work at all, but it does and I'm happy.
