newbee questions

Hi, I am just trying out the demo version at the moment, but was not sure
whether I should be able to save the project file (.gprj), i can save it, but
cannot open it, and file size shows as 0 bytes.
Also, where are the .avi animations saved to,cannot find them !
On a more technical note, once a gear is placed in the project screen, can its position
on the shaft be altered, or is there an accurate way of placing it on the shaft.
thanks, Steve

Hi Steve:

The Demo will not save project files, though it can load them.
>>Also, where are the .avi animation s saved to,cannot find them !
They appear in the C:\Gearotic Motion\GearData folder. (Unless you set a different default location in the options menu).
Check this carefully if its importnt to you , a small percentage of systems will not store avi's or jpg's and I havent as yet figured out why, the OpenGL buffering system is used for the avi creations and such and some systems may have issues with this.

Yes, In GT you select any gear and press the button on the properties screen to "Place on gear" or "Place on shaft"
to get a more accurate placement. ( This will be enhanced in the new year with allowance of typing in a Z position for
shaft replacement. In GM though, you have to delete and recreate a gear. (GT is the recode of GM still in progress
with each module being recoded to better specs and power for the user).
Hope this helps,

Thanks for the answers,
I had not tried GT,
But now i havve found them, I still have problems with both videos and snapshots showing blank.
I have the misfortune of now having windows 8.1, and i think that is the problem.
works fine on an old xp machine. have tried both GM and GT, and different codecs,
but no change. Not really an issue for me but thought you would like to know.
Does buying the software now include free upgrades to the finished GT when it is out ?

Hi Steve:
I dont yet use Win8.1, bu its possibel if you run GT as administrator those items may work. I'm suspecting its a security issue of some sort.
As to GT, yes, once licensed for GM you are registered for all future software at no charge.
Thx
