Minor issues with 4th Axis Paths, GT
Minor issues with 4th Axis Paths, GT
While your in the middle of a new version, I have a couple minor 4th axis items
1. The tool change GCode is still present in the output.
2. If you change the material size it is ignored. For example, I made my gears narrower than in the project. I changed Z from 1" to .25". It didn't change in the posted code. I assume that's what the material size is for...

Hi Sky:
Thx, Ill kill the tooclchange until such time as you can select tools.
As for the material, its really just a display setting, to change the code
you need to change the depth box for the cut..
Thx

Re: Minor issues with 4th Axis Paths, GT
I tried changing the final depth to .25 and that did not have an effect on the resulting gcode. FYI, naming gears and the new font seems to work quite well.
My Y axis goes from Y5 to Y-5.
G0 X 0.0401 Y 0.5375 Z 0.5000 A-3.1054
X 0.0401 Y 0.5375 Z -0.1486 A-3.1054
G1 F60.0X 0.0401 Y -0.5375 Z -0.1486 A -3.1054
Also, in my user defined prolog, it's sticks a Ctrl-M at the end of the line. doesn't seem to hurt anything though.

Re: Minor issues with 4th Axis Paths, GT
My appologies, your quite right, the gear in 4th axis is cut to the thickness of the 3d gear that was created.
I will add to my list to change that over to the depth box setting..

As of next version the FinalDepth parameter will control 4th axis spur cuts thickness. This allow for quick changes
to thickness as well as matches the spurs on 2.5D in that finaldepth actually controls their thickness as well.
(This does not apply to helicals, herringbone or knuckles or bevels as yet., just spur gears, pulleys, etc..)
Thx

Re: Minor issues with 4th Axis Paths, GT
It's really a minor request. I don't think someone would normally need to adjust the thickness at this point. If I was going to get a wish granted it would be for the output to include a txt file with all the shaft locations and gear data. A project summary file so to speak...
Re: Minor issues with 4th Axis Paths, GT
good idea, I will make sure thats added very shortly.
( Oh, forgot to mention I think, the buttons "Undo and Redo" are now on the properties tab,
they will work to about 20 operations..
