Version 2.3015 online

Post by ArtF »

Hi All:

This version repairs a few bugs found over the last few weeks in GCode posting, and in placement in Gearotic.
In Auggie,. its adds Metric/Imperial switching. (G20/G21)

Note:  If you play with Auggie, reset your config of the motors, and in the planner config, select the
setting for "Setup in Metric" true or false so Auggie knows how to convert. It can convert on the fly
and in mid program, though I never recommend that in any CNC controller. It gets too confusing
to the user. The M30 is also repaired to work properly, it was being ignored in some programs.

You can ignore the "Cons" button, it is a future module for importing DXF or GCode shapes ,
manipulating those shapes, and then re posting, but so far it only loads.  Feel free to play with
it though to see what DXF's it will or wont import for you.

Thx
Have Fun..

Hi Bob and Art

Thanks for the lastest update.  In addition to the mentioned fixes, this version has also cured the problems that I had mentioned in other topic areas with bevel gear reversals.  Now my sim of the E Howard Tower Clock is quite close to the real thing.

I'm now trying to figure out the protocols behind the scaling and placement of indicators.  I've created dxf's that create a numbered dial face for my simulation.

Initial orientation when placing the numbers seems to be random when placing the numbers on the output of a shaft (this is on the upper 4-way bevel gear split).  The way I've been doing so far is to figure out whether the shaft needs a forward or backward dial numbers, add it to a shaft, rotate it so the "12 O'clock" is vertical, & then remove the shaft-dial link so the number stays stationary when running the sim.

The technique seems to work most of the time and the one glitch I've run into I can not duplicate on a simpler simulation.  I will keep trying things until I discover whether the source is my model or a glitch.

Wow, you amaze me with what you accomplished,I didnt think one could make a sim look
that good in Gearotic. Youve really pressed its envelope, Good job...

Ill keep looking internally to see what I can make more stable. :)

I still spend time each week in Gearotic stabilizing and fixing small bugs.

Hi Bob & Art

I'm quite impressed with Gearotics ability to simulate clock mechanisms.

My experiments today involved playing around with links.  I had found a bug in my original Chronometer simulation that required recreating a gear pair and replacing the faulty spec'd gears that were located deep in the simulation. That ability to replace gears was much preferable than recreating the entire simulation.

I've also been experimenting with creating more realistic vanes for both the Chronometer and the tower clock sim & the brief movie shows one of my attempts.

Hi All:

Just a note, the next release is likely delayed by a couple weeks. Ive begun the task of creating a help file with
all the script commands available to Auggie. Turns out I added more than I thought, its a large job, but
even Im forgetting the parameters and such at times, I can look them up in the code, but of course others
will need a help file, so its on its way.. just take a while.. I so hate the paperwork.. :)
