New version of GT and GM

Post by ArtF »

Hi All:

I just uploaded a new version of GM. GM has fixes in it for 4-bar linkages which were reported this week.
GT has quite a few internal changes to try to enhance reliability , please report any crash error codes to help me track down
  any remaining crash issues.

GT has a fix for printing that caused circles not to be printed. ( Circles are now used as registration marks for multipaged gears.)
John reported this week it was hard to place a pulley at a set shaft distance, you will now be asked when placing if youd like to restrict
placement to one set distance. Calculators for things like belt length will appear in the future..

Escapements are ready...but not yet really released. Im releaseing early to up the stability and fix some bugs in other modules, the escapement
tab I left in for those who know enough to use it. You can make it do ridiculous outputs, so play with tooth count or span if the drawing doesnt
make sense, I will make a video explaining it all as soon as I make a device using a chrono escpament to use in the video. Unlike in GM the escapments
now follow the calculations used by the British Horological Society. The settings such as lock and drop affect the drawing in appropriate ways. Tip relief
is taken into effect in the calculations for drop.

I have relased 4 escapements in order of difficulty to build.

1- Recoil ( simple, reliable, easy to make. )
2- Deadbeat( bit harder, more accurate, for the intermediate hobbiest.
    3- Chronometer-recoil
    4- Chronomenter-deadbeat  -- Advanced.

The last two are for more advanced users, the program can output most of what you need, but its up to the user to understand the
factors involved in making them run right for the application. Kinetic art woudl seem to be the greatest usage around here, so
Ive taken the liberty of making them a bit more robust than your average watch .. I figure no-one here will actually build a small watch.. :) )
I will make a device with one of these and then release a video explaining all I can about what to look out for and consider.
Pendulums are not ready yet, nor are any time based calculations, that will come down the road after things such as ratchets.

  Thx
  Art
