New version GT version updated to 1.14
Hi All
A new GT is online. The Noncirculars , while selectable, is still in construction and is included only for
testing for particular individuals to test some values for me.
A library function has been added to circular gears, this is amost the same as GM's, but has more information stored,
so GM and GT's stored gear datums are not interchangable.
The helicals have been updated to allow for differing angles so long as
1) The handedness is the same between the two. ( meaning a shaft rotation will occur).
2) The Normalised type of helical is being created. ( ie: The no resize must not be checked)
This allows for example a shaft displacement of 90 degrees, with one gear being 10 and the other being 80 degree.
This too is released for testing, most entry safeties are disconnected so caution is advised that you dont create
and try to make impossible gears..
Thx, have fun

Re: New version GT version updated to 1.14
Hi Art,
The version 1.14 works great on my machine (toothless) at this point but I can produce the shapes I'm familiar with. Just a note is that the DP needs to be really high like 50 in order to get the background grid to indicate a reasonably sized gear otherwise they are very large. The "enable" box on the spokes doesn't show a check or colour change when clicked but does do the job turning spokes on and off.
Even with just the line shapes I am having fun with it.

John:
Thx. At the moment its in mm's only no matter what you choose, that may explain the weirdness in size.
Im still finalizing the code for many things so its all very very very preliminary on those ellipticals. It may
take me awhile as I have many experiments to run, like all the GT modules I want it to be much better
than GM's version.

Hi Art,
Some day you'll have to explain to me why you do all this work for us!!

Are you kidding me, I make literally tens of dollars a week
doing this. Why just last week my personal chef asked
"You want fries with that Big Mac?" and I was tempted to say yes.
I'm living high my friend...living high... :-)

You're a special guy for sure and while I understand it won't buy a thing, thanks for all the hard work.
Re: New version GT version updated to 1.14
Stay away from those fries, will kill ya anyways. You got too much to get done. ;D

The more I think on it you may be right, just how much more could he want, next he'll be able to afford something to drink with his Big Mac.

Hi All:
For those with mathematical interests in noncirculars I thought Id share this internal
image of the base "circle" of a 3rd order ellipse. While most are familiar with the base
circle of a spur gear ( the base is the circle one creates the involute curves for the teeth from
and in the case of a spur it is indeed a perfect circle. ). In a 3rd order ellipse the calculated
base circle from which to evolve evolutes is in this photo. Im running an experiment to see
if I can instantly tooth the new ellipses rather than the virtualised shaper route. Each are interesting
methods and I may offer both in the end, but instant toothing has appeal for practicallity as
well as the knowledge gained in writing the code. Should I find it accurate in terms of meshing
I will release it as well. The photo, in any event is an interesting side note to those who play
in the dark arts. :)

oh, obviously there should be two identical but reversed copies of that curve, the one shown is
used to determine the right side profile of the teeth, (in an elliptical each side of the teeth have their own
unique profile) and the left profiler curve is just the reverse of the one shown.

Looks good Art, can't wait till it's functional. The Dark Arts will see the light soon.

Hi All:
A bug was reported in the printing section of GT. While at first I coudlnt repeat it, it turns out it was due to the center of the placement
on the sim screen not being taken into account. This messed up the print. It has been repaired if you redownload. No version numbers were changed, but the fix has been implemented.
Thx

Hi All:
Just a quick progress report. I now have the ellipticals toothing with entirely new routines based on racks.
It takes approx 3 seconds on my system to tooth an elliptical to high resolution, ( Beating GM by orders of magnitude),
so now I have to optimize the code that finally worked to see if I can gain more time.. then do the spoking requirements for
them. I hope to release within a month at least a preliminary noncirculars module, which is actually faster than I envisioned
and so far I have lots of puppies left. :-)
