Positioning Indicators

Post by Christian »

Hi,
I want to put an Indicator on the same shaft that a gear is on.
I want to position the indicator to a specific angular position on the shaft relative to the gear.
How can I specify the angular placement of the indicator ?

I just loaded the new trial version.

The old version I had placed the indicators at what seemed to be 90 deg by default.  .... sometimes  ::).

Thank you,
:)

I found an Art video about the slitsaw and pendulum.
There I learned about the Rotation Adjust feature and then found the associated feature on the Indicator panel.
But, it just goes a strange increment per click and I cannot select the exact angle desired.
I can't enter any value into the boxes. Is this normal ?

Is there a way to specify 90 or 180 degrees for the indicator ?
I tried dragging it with the mouse while watching the X and Y dro's at the top, but this just gets real close ... not exact.
IE: Y0 would be 0 and 180 deg. , X0 would be 90 and 270 deg. but I cant hit it exactly.

Thanks,
:)

Hi Christian:

When I implemented the indicators it was as a visual aid for meshing, I hadnt planned on it being used in any accurate way,
like being able to set it to an exact degree. What youve found is pretty much how it works. I will add to the development list the ability
to type in a degree for it though.

Thx

Hi Art, that would be handy.

I'm primarily using this to simulate a component in an automatic tube process machine that I am designing. In this case it needs to be precise.

VERY nice work you've done here.

Thanks for your attention.
Kind regards,
:)

Christian:

A new button called "Angle" has been added to the section for rotation correction to allow
any shaft to be set to a start angle specified in degrees by the user. It will be available on
next update and should fix your problem as to accuracy of an indicator placement.
Thx for your question and suggestion. (Cant promise when next update will be.. but
the addition has been made and tested.  :)

Excellent !
I will watch for it.

Thanks, I hope it will be useful for others as well. (to justify your extra labor)
It adds a touch of utility to an already powerful product.

Kindest regards,
:)
