Is it possible to remove teeth from a circular gear?
Is it possible to remove teeth from a circular gear?
I would like to simulate a counter mechanism with two gears on a shaft driven by a one tooth circular gear. I see I can drive a cage gear with a single tooth (although it's buggy) but I can't figure out how to remove teeth from a circular gear. Forgive me if this is obvious. I'm new to gearotic :)

Hi:
Sorry, but you can remove all or none of circular gear teeth, you cant remove only a few. The cage gear teeth can be removed in the geneva type , ( did you say its buggy? What happens, I hadnt had that report.. ). Ill run some tests and schedule it for an update if I see the trouble.
Thx

Hi:
Ahhh, I see it, if you mean the even numbered cage gears in rythmic are not properly meshed.
Sorry about that, Ive fixed that before and must have reinjected the bug in recent updates. Scheduled
for a fix.
Thx

Re: Is it possible to remove teeth from a circular gear?
Thank you for speedy reply! I've been doing even gear teeth on the cages and never saw the odd work. I appreciate the difficulty in programming all these gear types :) if I could make a request to add that feature of removing individual gear teeth of circular gears, I will patiently wait for that update. (If it's possible)
I've been working on a 1000 year watch at 40mm for a couple years now, and have not found many good tools that can help beside QBasic, I'm a complete amateur.
I just found your program and find it extremely helpful in working on my hobby! Thank you Art.

Hi O
Is it that you need it to simulate motion using missing teeth, or need them removed for display reasons? Or it is a case of stopping
rotation after a certain rotational anglke is achieved? (Just curious. :) )

Re: Is it possible to remove teeth from a circular gear?
I am trying to simulate motion, i am trying to make a date display that shows 4 digit year.
If I could get that to work I would have another display with day of week and a moon phase off that. So I would have it affect more gears down the train.
