Adding a flange to a pulley for 3d printing.

Post by ArtF »

Hi All:

I get this question alot, so I thought Id post a solution. 3d printers often want a flange on the pulleys
they print, or to add substance or collars in different ways. STL's in Gearotic can be combined when output.
As a result, to add a flange is as easy as adding a stripped circular gear to the shaft.

So, you add a pulley to the screen. You then make a thin round gear with a pitch diam equal to the
diam you wish the flange to be, you then place that thin gear on the same shaft as the pulley. Then ,
select the round gear on the tree to the left. Rigth click and youll see, "Strip Teeth". Select that.
The result is as seen in the attachment. Rinse and repeat, and you have 2 flanges. In the STL module
select the option to put out all STL's selected as one STL. Most 3d printers will now print that as a
flanged pulley.

Thx
