Move on shaft degree indicator

Post by Steve »

When you place a gear or move on shaft is there a way to be precise in placement so shaft holes can be lined up in the same plane?  I have noticed the "degree of rotation" field but don't think that relates to this issue.

Hi Steve:

Normally, all shafts do exist on one plane.. how do you mean "line up"? The angular
indicators do detent at the 90's, or do you mean you'd like to have more of an x,y placement?

When I add a gear it seems usually to come in at the 3 o'clock position.  If I want to move it to say the 6 o'clock position is there something to tell me that I am moving it 90 degrees clockwise?

Steve:

yes, the text on the screen should show the new angular relationship as you rotate it around the driver gear your placing it on.
Do you have the text properly showing on your screen. I have heard of a couple issues there. One, if in Win7, run the program as admin, (right
click it and select run as admin), for some reason a few systems dont show text on screen unless you do that. Try using the Alt-5 key combination to switch to full screen view to make sure text isnt being hidden from you. Text size can be set in the options tab, if too large , some of the text can be too low to be seen.

Let me kow what you find,

Thx

Steve:

Try dragging the window down a bit to see if it will show up with the control panels turned on.
You can, in the options menu set a smaller font, that can help alot as well. Let me know if after
trying that the text is still hidden and Ill see about making the default location a bit higher on the screen so its not hidden.

Thx

I tried moving the control panel down with no luck.  Changed font size to small and it works fine with control panel in the usual spot.  Would be nice though for that info to appear near the top of the screen instead of ontop of the model.
Thanks

Hi Steve:

As I get such reports I move things around a bit, everyone is different in resolution so we're
slowly making it conform for everyone. Ive listed to move it up on the next version to see how that is.

Thx for the report,
Art
