An 8 day wooden gear clock
An 8 day wooden gear clock
Here are a few photos of my latest little creation using gearotics ;D
It runs for 8 days on a wind, actually as long as you wish as long as you have a wall high enough to mount the wgt pulley :D but it was designed for 8 days and with that theme in mind it got the name "#8". It does run for 8 days at the height shown in the photo.
I used a separate pulley instead of a doubling pulley under the clock, as per the original design, as the wgt required would have been frightening!
I added an hour chime for the fun of it.
If you would like to see it running I have added a link in the "video" section, a bit grainy I know but you will get the idea ;)

Re: An 8 day wooden gear clock
I originally made the weight as a single length but decided to cut it into sections as I almost lost a days runtime just because of the length!
Outer diameter of copper tubing is 51mm just some old plumbing pipe bought from scrap yard then used paint stripper to clean.

hi dave, i just print out gears on paper and glue to quality ply. I cut in between the teeth with a band saw close to the line then use a small tabletop 1" belt sander to sand to the line, ie till the line just disappears. I use a scroll for the internal design cut outs.David Sohlstrom wrote: Did you CNC the gears or scroll saw them.
