I would have bet (*and lost  :-\) that I referred to a graphics issue on this laptop within the first couple of GT versions out.

*went back and looked at my old posts, could not find it. (another sign of ole age) :'(

Got no trouble on my old laptop but just checked and it's 64 bit which surprises me.

Off to install it on an old machine computer that's on XP, gotta be 32 bit ?
Runs this old crap controller software called Mach 3, you might have heard of it  ;D

Mind you it is better than Mach 4  :'(

but it doesn't.

Hi Art,
I don't know if this is any help to you,  but I have a partition on my Mac that is accessed by Parallels and runs Windows XP.  I have installed the latest dev version without any problem.  There are some peculiarities but the design portion works fine.

If I get system info this is what it says.

Hi Art,
The Peculiarity that I referred above to is the "options" button.  When i click on either the Globe icon or the gear icon they cause the screen to lock up on me and I have to hit the escape to return to an operational screen.  As a result the options function in inaccessible to me.

Hi John:

The configuration error is usually that the vcdistx86.exe wasnt run on that machine. Try running that, its in the folder for gearotic.
Ill check the options menu to see what may have changed. Sorry for all the bugs this version but quite a few htings are changed, take me a
couple fixes I think to fix it all up.

Hi Art
I could not find a file vcdistx86 but did find the following and ran it -
/Volumes/C/Program Files/Gearotic Motion/vcredist_x86.exe

The Option icon still freezes the screen and require an "esc" to get it working again.  All my other tests worked.  the far right icon for version isn't happy either an requires a command-option-escape combination to free up the program.  Once that combination is applied I get my name and version identified as 1.07.

John
PS No need to apologize for the bugs - gives me something to test and I am very excited about where the program is going.

VRCEDIST_X86.exe cured the problem.
GT now runs and I have the head on screen and selecting different views moves the head.
This is on two old clunkers.

Art,
Don't apologise for the bugs - just fix them  ;)

:)

Now that options thing is a weird one, as is the version thing..

If this still happens on next version John, Ill make a special version just for you that does some tracing to see if we can track it down,
its one of the weirder ones Ive heard of, and Ive heard some pretty weird stuff over the past decade or so between Mach3 and GM.. :)

Fixed my issue with the missing HEAD, now displayed.  :)

went to the "C:\Program Files\Gearotic Motion" folder
Right clicked on GearoticThoughts.exe
Selected Compatibility Tab; Privilege Level: check box to "Run this program as an administrator"

Amazing.. Now why the heck would microsoft make loading a file in a program an issue of security. Some days I just shake my head...

I found it hard to believe that as many people that have tried GT have not had the same issue. Made me think it was something with the graphics driver on this Lenovo laptop. Guess not! Ya-Nvr-No  :-\

I would need a little help ???
I notice that when I go into the cnc mode to gen code for a pulley or gear I'm confused with what should I turn my OD measurements to. As per example one place says OD to be 2.0165 and in the settings shows it to be 2.1414 about .125 difference. Would the larger OD the rough size that I should turn the OD to?

Also the radius does not add up with any of the OD

Hi :

Sorry about that, there isnt much documentation on that subject as yet. You should make the blank to the size shown in the information for outside diameter
of that gear on the project screen. The stock display is rather loose in that its just trying to make a blank for display, Ill check why its saying differently, but your stock should be the same size as whatever is reported as the external diameter. All cuts are based on that.

Thx
