My new Chinese 100 Watt Laser Cutter

Post by Rocket »

Hello Art and Company,

My new 100 Watt laser cutter arrived from China two days ago.

It was package perfectly, no damage of any kind.  It took
me about 8 hours to unbox and setup.

The mirrors were aligned perfectly and I made a plain test gear from Gearotic
to see what would happen.

1/2 cheap plywood.  Power 95%, speed 5%, gear is about 8 inches in diameter.
Took about 7 minutes to cut....amazing.....

So with less than 24 hours of laser experience, I was one happy guy!

NOW THE BAD NEWS......

I then set up another gear to cut, turn on the machine and it did not
start up....nothing dead....dead....dead.......

I spent the next 12 hours checking every single electrical connection and
all the things I could possibly check.....dead...dead....dead....

Euphoria to depression in 12 hours........

One of many parts must have failed:  Control panel, main circuit board, power supply etc...etc...etc...

I have sent email to Chinese company.....they told me not to worry....actually they say "you no worry, we help you,
we want you happy"

Happy my ASS.

I will keep you guys posted....

Anyone headed to Hong Kong in the near future????

Richard

Hey Art,

While I am waiting for my laser parts, I will work on Scimitar.
I have cut most of the parts with my CNC machine.

Are there any step by step building instructions anywhere?

I have watched all your videos, but my feeble mind is still having trouble
with assembly.

The monster, in my air conditioned garage!

Temporary hook-up, I cut the 6 inch exhaust hole
next to the AC with the machine before it went DEAD>

Nice Machine, quite similar to mine..just a bit larger.

The chinese will help you out typically, at least for awhile. Mine had a similar problem when
the Estop button got loose, it wouldnt turn on.. Im sure it till be the main  fuse or something..
No power at all is usually the easiest trouble to fix..

TO build Scimitar, really you just start with the base plate on the bench and start assembling outwards,
not many parts so it will become obvious you need to remove something to fit something under it in..
Watch the running and test videos carefully if you wonder where a part goes.. itll all come into focus
as you go..

Good luck with the laser, Im sure theyll get it going pretty quick.
