Layout Grid

Hi Art,
In the clock I'm currently designing the layout of the gears is more critical than usual.
I want the pivot of the drive gear to lie perfectly vertical to the pins on the Pin Wheel.  I can "slant" the finished clock to make that happen but it would be nice if I could lay it out on the project screen and then the boxing would give me the alignment I want.

So - my question is would it be really hard to incorporate a grid in the background of the project screen?  (similar to what appears on the 3-axis window)
