Hi Art,

Post by Rocket »

Richard in Florida.

Spending many many hours working on the new laser cutter.

I hope this message finds you well and happy.

I am designing some large wheels in Gearotic,
to use in a kinetic sculpture that I am designing.

Are there any other spoke patterns than I can access,
say "spoke patterns" that are much more fancy???

More curves and such??

Hi Rocket,
Spokes are not that hard to design and you can put them in a file and then the sky is the limit.

Some where in these posting Art has explained how to do it.  Search for Spokes in these threads

Richard;

Hope you having fun with your new laser cutter, Art is away for the next few weeks, so hope I can help. The drop down menu offers many spokes styles to pick from if you haven't seen them already,  and you can generate your own too. To design one, simply design one spoke only in CAD, save it as a dxf and copy it into your Gearotic/spoke folder, then restart Gearotic and try selecting it from the menu. Remember it is possible to fail at first with this process, if your spoke is too big or contains any open loops it will fail, however once you figure it out, it should work well.

Cheers

I have Gearotic installed with a license on
my office computer in my home.

How do I also install on my garage computer with
same license?

Bob,

I have tried to design a spoke in Cut 2D Desktop, I sucessfully
export the DXF file to a folder and copied the file into Spokes...

I used a very simple design about 5 different times but it never will load in the
wheel I picked.

My spoke is much simpler that the existing files...

Rocket;

Check your messages, I sent you info on how to install your existing license onto your garage computer. Now as to spokes, what I said should work, but tell you what, send me your dxf, I'll test it here and will pass it back to you..

Rocket & Bob

If the SPOKE designs are similar in function to ones created for custom indicators, then the problem might be that the shapes Rocket is creating are simply lines instead of closed shapes (polygons, poly-lines, etc.)
