Toobit Wizard

Post by Paul Rusconi »

Hi
I have had GM for a week now and love it, I have just finished my prototype supercharger, need to make some shafts and its ready to try.
I was keen to see how the toolbit wizard worked so I put in some material and ran the gcode for a 10T 2Mod  spur gear and it produced the correct profile, But when it came to cutting the clearance it indexed to 9 deg and cut the clearance on one side as expected but when it came to do the other side it didn't reverse the angle so the clearance was cut at the same angle so it produced cutting edges that would be fine for a "slot drill" style of cutter but no good for a flycutter style.
Should it index back the other way when it put the clearance on the opposite cutting edge or am I missing something.

Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul:

It should have produced a cutting edge on each side, but that wizard was experimental at the time and very rarely used so something may have changed inadvertantly. I will be updateing that section as well. ( Actually, I'll be updateing all modules and Ive been at work on that for many months. ). GM was more successful than I really figured it would be, so the entire program is in the process of being rewritten to a much higher standard.

( I mention all this often so that new users will know that some of the buggy items, (Like bevels and tool wizards) will eventually look and work much better.

  But I digress.. :)

As I recall both sides should have gotten relieved , and did so lat time I used it, though its been some time.  I will review the code and see if it has changed in any way and report back.

Thx
Art
