Re-installing software after CRASH!!

Good Morning Art;

I hope you can help.
over the years of downloading freeware my computer had so many popup ads that it was necessary to completely re-format my drive and re- install my operating system.
I re-installed my Mach3 with license and no problems, I re-installed Gearotic Motion with license no problems there, however, Gearotic Thoughts would not load. The error message is:
"C:/Gearoticmotion/Gearoticthoughts.exe
"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect" ( Sorry about hand typing the message, my screen capture program has not been re-installed)

I've followed other advice on the forum about downloading current release and than going back and downloading current development version. this did not help.

Any suggestions?

Hi Jerry:

    It may be a couple things. First, run the program vcredist.. either X86 or 64 depending on if your 32 or 64 bit.
If that doesnt fix it.. ( buit it probably will ), then you may want to delete the defaults for the program. Youd need
to run Regedit, and delte the key named Gearotic Thoughts. Doi a search for Gearotic and when you see that key, delete it,
it will reset GT back to install defaults.

Let me know how you make out.

I entered the phrase"vcredist" in the RUN field and I got an error msg(wrong spelling or something)
I'm not sure what I should have done with the x86 or 64( sorry for my computer illiteracy)

I remember from the last time I had this problem you walked me through using "Regedit" hkey>current-user> software> gearotic thoughts. however when I went into the file this time there was no gearotic thoughts file.

Sorry. In the folder C:\Gearotic Motion\ there are two files named vcredist.....exe , one has x86 in it, the other has X64 in the name. Run one or the other
depending on if your x86 or x64.

The Reg key is at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Gearotic Thoughts

  But it may not be there if the error is stopping it form running the first time on a new system. I suspect its the vcredistx86.exe you need to run. ( or vcdistx64.exe )
