Escape wheel design

Post by Jerrywi »

Good Morning Group, Art and Bob;

Over the years, I have purchased several wooden clock plans and used them as templates to cut out the gears. this was before any affordable software was developed for cutting and/or designing gears.

Some of these gears have warped over the years and I thought that I would replace these gears with new ones, creating them using GT. (an opportunity to use the great spokes that are available in GT)

Some of the escapement gears are Recoil or Dead Beat but the ones I'm interested in have a shape that I'm wondering if it can be produced in GT. (file attached )

Thanks for your input

Jerry

Hi Jerry:

  I dont yet make one for clubfoot deadbeats or recoils. I will add this to my list as it looks like a
relatively easy correction. It wont be withing weeks, but it will probably get in there this year..

PS:

  You might find the normal deadbeats can work in your mechanism as long as the size is correct and the angular distance is right.. so just correct tooth count and diameter of deadbeat..

I have several clubfooted clocks that I have made and they really work very well - at least for me.

Hi Art,
In the meantime I am determined to make a Chrono clock that uses a hairspring.  Nothing to lose but time.
