error foumd
error foumd
Hi All, After killing gearotic thoughts in registry I was able to enerate a gear and simulate cutting. I tried various options and the screen went dull and a message from windows appeared (program stopped working) and killed Gearotic. When I restarted I got the same result when I tried to add a wheel. I deleted Gearotic thoughts from the registry and restarted the program which ran OK until I added a wheel and got Error found Gearotic11, attempt recovery, I selected yes and the error kept recurring. Any suggestions?

Very strange. I have no reports of similar trouble, but Id love to track it down.
Can you export the registrykey for Gearotic thoughts, Ill import it here so I have your settings
and hopefully it will crash on me. I can then fix it. Ive never had windows report the program
stopped working , and error 11 mns the system is runnign fine rigth up to failure..so it doesnt
help me in this case. Your registry though may point out what number or value is hosing us if it is
a setting of a number or value.

Re: error foumd
Hi Art,
I have renamed the reg file to doc as it wouldn't attach a reg file

You could also have zipped the file and attached it - .zip is an allowable extension.

Hmm, mine has no trouble with those settings. ( not many settings in there really.. )
. Question:
Is the program installed in the default C:\Gearotic Motion folder? What OS is this?
Have you tried running it with Run As Admin selected?
I may have to generate a special version for you to test, so contact me at support@ gearotic.com with the answers to the above so I can send files to you. Did previous versions work for you?
Thx

I ran Gearotic on my workshop pc and also managed to crash it. When I first started gearotic I was able to generate a gear which was the wrong thickness so I deleted the wheel and then added a wheel and started getting errors
This is the sequence of events
1 Booted pc and deleted gearotic thoughts from registry
2 Started gearotic (it always seems to show the same startup tip ie alt 5)
3 Clicked circular gear and got the yellow start screen
4 Changed tooth count to 19 and width to 30 Also changed width window below calculator at bottom of screen to 30
5 Clicked calculator and selected gear diameter to 42.8 and clicked ok
6 Width selections both defaulted to 0.5 so I reset them to 30
7 Clicked add wheel and got error gearotic 1202
8 Program stopped responding
After this if I start gearotic I am asked if I want to reset defaults and I select yes but still have errors and have to shut te pc down and restart
My operating system is windows 7 and I have installed gearotic into the default files
I'm beginning to think that I am doing something stupid but can't see it?

Are you using mm's but are set to inches in the options? I think your creating gears 30" in width and overloading your memory.
Try this, start program, go to the options screen and see if mm or inch is selected. I suspect this is why
Windows is being cryptic, its just being bogged down trying to ccreate a massive object. using inch defaults.
( It will create the gears .001 per slice in inch mode so a 40" gear woudl be 40,000 slices .. in mm mode it woudl be .25 or 4 slices..

That seems to be the problem, I thought I was being dof (south african word for stupid!)
Hopefully the next question will be worthwhile
